Auckland Anniversary Day

The Ports of Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta is one of the oldest one-day regattas in the world, boasting a fleet of both vintage and modern sail, power and...

One of the best things the Classic Yacht Association of Australia has done in its 25 year history is to develop great relationships between wooden boat sailors on both sides of the Tasman.

This usually takes the form of between 10 and 20 crew coming over to Melbourne to participate in the Cup Regatta on Port Phillip and a few months later a cohort return the favour in Auckland to compete on board boats of the CYANZ fleet out on the Waitamata for Anniversary Day.

For obvious reasons this isn’t going to happen this year, but the Auckland event is still on, made all the more special by having the backdrop of the 36th Americas Cup.

Auckland's big day is just 10 days away, and hundreds of sailors, power-boaters and paddlers are already preparing to celebrate the day on the water as part of one of the world's biggest and most historic one-day regattas. The Kiwis are world leaders in restoring sailing craft and cherishing their very individual boats.

If you’re on the Eastern side of the Tasman, there's still time to enter. There are great cash prizes on offer for winners in every division, class and race, plus a whole load of spot prizes, not to mention the historic trophy collection.
