Irrefutable Pedigree as Entries Open

The Purcell family’s Philip Rhodes design SCIMITAR, will be there on the startline

On Monday this week the entries opened for the 17th Edition of the Cup Regatta, the marquee event of the Classic Yacht Association of Australia, hosted by the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria,

Up until this week we have been running an expression of interest and it looks like there could be up to 50 boats attending. But now is the time to make the full commitment, whether racing, non- racing, or merely participating in the social and spectator opportunities.

We have a seriously diverse, storied and decorated fleet of wooden boats coming to Williamstown on the weekend of 3rd, 4th & 5th November… A couple of Admiral’s Cup winners, a Newport Bermuda race overall winner, three circumnavigators, Victoria’s most successful keelboat, Sayonara Cup challengers and a plethora of Sydney Hobart contestants. Mixed in with them will be the heart and soul of Port Phillip’s Classic fleet, Net boats, Couta boats and Tumlaren.

The designers of these craft read like a list of 20th Century Yachting Royalty. Stephens, Riemers, Herreshoff, Peel, Giles, Neilson, Lexcen, Rhodes, Hesse and Savage.
