No Joy Here

Images by Marianne Findlay

Our undercover Mornington Peninsular correspondent sent in these images this week, from the beach at Flinders. Its alway sad to see pictures such as this, but its important we put it out there, because A. it’s a salutary warning to never take the sea for granted and B. One person’s loss could well be another person’s opportunity.

Our correspondent writes,

Apparently, the owner spent many hours last week fixing rigging and then took her out for a sail with his daughter. They were seen heading out from their mooring at Flinders and around the point.  Tragically, she must have hit the reef and been washed up to where she now sits, broken and filled with sand. The owner must have salvaged the gaff, boom, jib and stashed them on the shore.

This is yet to be fact checked so happy to stand corrected on any of this detail.

Interestingly, the information contained in the Couta Boats Association’s wonderful new book in now online for all to see HERE and JOY is not mentioned.

The Register has a wealth of detail and you could well disappear down this rabbit hole only to emerge a few hours later, richer (in mind) and inspired!
